A Tourist in your own City

I’ve said it before and well, it looks like I’m saying it again but I am never enough of a tourist. Come on Lucy, London has so much to offer! Luckily, on the very rare occasion that I found myself in St James’s Park, it turned out to be a damn good one. The sun was out in full force (quite a scarce sighting these days) and the flowers were going all in with with the rainbow theme. I tried to fit in with my floral embroidered top and don’t think I did too bad a job!

We walked around and marvelled at the variety of ducks – there was one with a quiff, man! We even stumbled up on The Changing of the Guards. Now, seeing as I’ve NEVER seen the bloomin’ guards ever move and have talked about needing to go and see it for years, I was pretty chuffed to work out that all the hustle and bustle and drum hitting was actually that very thing! Any other Londoners have it high up on their list?!

Talking of London, don’t forget that my blogging gal gang and I are hosting #TheBloggersMarket numero 2 on 22nd August so hit ‘going’ on the Facebook page and see you there!

Legs Out Time!

Girls, it’s finally time to flash your pins – it’s Spring! *YAY!* Whilst this isn’t the first time I’ve braved bare skin this year, (my visit to the Sahara Desert kinda demanded it!) it’s one of the first times I’ve joined the #NoTightsClub here in chilly Blighty. That flash-in-the-pan heatwave we had a few weeks ago has gotten me so excited for the prospect of warmer weather that I’ve had to actually consider the state of my skin sans-trousers. Sadly, I’m not blessed with the best skin (anyone else have Keratosis pilaris?! So annoying!) and having such dark hair means there’s not much chance of hoping no-one will notice my winter hibernation hairs.

Enter our latest Take10 sponsor – Braun! It might be a bit of an odd idea to feature a female grooming brand in a style challenge but actually I quite enjoyed using their latest product, a Braun epilator, for the first time. I’ve always been curious about using one. Waxing doesn’t do well on my thick hairs and although I admit it is a little painful at first, if it means less time caring to shave and more time sunning myself then that’s a win for me!

Take a look how each of us 10 girls, including newbie Camilla, are baring our legs! I think it’s cool to see how differently we style ourselves around one part of our bodies. Are you a short flippy dress girl like me or would you go for a maxi split like Dunya?

New Things for Spring!

Here are my favourite new things to prettify your home and palette this May! From the best loose leaf tea (and the perfect tea set) to my new Aspinal passport cover, get ideas for your Spring home!

Spring Blooms

There’s nothing like a bunch of blooms to add a refreshing reminder that summer’s round the corner! Back home, our kerb sides are overrun with daffodils come April so I picked up this bunch of mini bulbs for £1.50 on a street stall and popped it in a little watering can to get a little bit of the countryside into my new London pad!

As for outside, these free wild flower seeds from the Grow Wild initiative are perfect. Just sprinkle and wait!

Time for Tea

Coffee? No thank you Mr Barista, it’s all about Tea for me! I’ve always been one to have a healthily stocked tea cupboard but none of this whole ‘wishy washy purple water’ malarky! I like proper chunky blends that I can tip out myself and sniff from giant jars in Fortnums!

My current faves are Turkish Apple from Camillia’s Tea House in Kingly Court, Cinnamon Apple black tea from The Tea House in Covent Garden and a lovely Breakfast Tea from Fortnum & Mason. Novelty tea infuser at the ready!

Spring touches for your Room

Its Spring cleaning time and when I’m not scrubbing the kitchen cupboards, there are objects to collect and display on my new shelves! I’m still in the midst of sorting out what goes where in my new room but that doesn’t mean I can’t start collecting! Candles and fun things like these waffle balls can be tossed in a corner and still look pretty. Easy least Spring room update!

Springtime Treats

Easter may have been last weekend but that doesn’t stop me eating hot cross buns, especially when they’re chocolate favoured! When the sun’s shining and tea takes a back seat I’ll be sipping smoothies with extra goodness thanks to innocent’s super smoothies.

Get Baking

Want to make your Spring treats a little more social? Set a date, invite your friends round and get whisking that pancake mix! If you don’t know what to bake, get inspired by my crazy burger cupcakes and enter my cook book giveaway!

My general life rule is if something mundane can be bought colourful, you’ve got to get it! This adorable mini frying pan abides by that mantra perfectly and these heart shaped cups will make any American recipes extra fun to make!

Travel Buddy

Doesn’t Spring time just make you want to travel? Take me away! I’m even more itching to get my feet off the ground now I’ve got this Aspinal passport cover in my drawer. It’s a luxe update after my plastic case fell apart and in pink lizard print leather, grosgrain ribbon and my initials stamped on the front, I’m jet-set for life! Next stop – Gothenburg!
