A hotel with attitude
In my last blog post I welcomed you to the Island of Mauritius where I showed you around the capital of Port Louis but now, it’s time to chill. Away from the hustle and bustle of market stalls and motorbikes lie oasis of calm in the form of a Mauritius hotel named Attitude. Not ones to encourage you to spend your trip entirely horizontal, this group of Indian Ocean-side locations have a ‘get in there’ attitude; offering you authentic experiences outside of their resorts that will result in you leaving with some pretty unique and special memories.
The Ravenala Attitute Hotel
My group and I were lucky enough to try two different Attitude Hotel locations, both beautiful with their own style of decor that it was hard to pick a favourite! The first, The Ravenala Attitiude Hotel was all about chilling out with rattan and bamboo de-decked rooms and secret experiences.
From an exclusive dinner on a floating river island (you can book this secret location for an intimate way to eat) to post-dinner cocktails and volleyball game (well, let’s just call it catch) in the pool at night, we had some of the most exciting, friendship-forming moments. Throw in impromptu traditional music and dancing performances on the beach, tastings of rums infused on site, excellent local cuisine cooked right in front of you and dreamy sunsets – our guides had a hard time pulling us away!
But away is just where the hotel want you to go in order for you to leave the island with an enriched experience. Hiring a car is your best bet to explore the island for yourself. I’ll have more on that in my next posts but if you’re zipping around The Ravenala Attitude Hotel then do stop your engine whenever anywhere catches your eye. Our whole minibus screeched when we spotted the colourful arched Tamul temple entrance in Terre Rouge at sunset one evening.
FYI, you can wander into religious sites so long as you remain respectful to the inhabitants, the mouldings and paintings are absolutely beautiful to see up close!
The Ravenalala Attitude Hotel 4* is situated in the north of the island. Prices start at around £104 per night.
