Shopping, snacks and social handles
Last Saturday The Hoxton in Holborn, London watched the stumbling in of 5 fashion bloggers (that’s Kristabel, Carrie, Olivia, Dunya and I), their helpers, 5 fabulous assistants (Nadine, Rebecca, Kate, Ghenet) and many, MANY suitcases of clothes, all for you lovely lot to come and loot from later! #TheBloggersMarket was back!
It makes my heart do a little fist-pump every time someone knows what I’m talking about when I say #TheBloggersMarket. Each time we host an event, the word spreads that little further (I <3 you social media) and this time, we’re treated to visits from guests from all over the country and many from across the channel. (Merci!) I mean, it does help when The Debrief stick you in their newsletter of course but still, thank you if you helped spread the word!
Anyway, this time we made it bigger and better than ever along with a palm-leaf theme to see in the Spring time. If you’ve not had the chance to come to one of these events, here’s what you missed out on that had guests queueing around the lobby!
It may come at no surprise to you but my rail and table of pre-loved pieces to sell was a colour-lovers’ dream. There were brightly printed dresses, Barbour jackets, bags in the shapes of milk bottles and even a cloud-print Lomography camera. All items averaged around £5 so it was an affordable way of picking up a couple of beautiful pieces from the blogs you like best.
Did you spot our cute swing tags? The lovely peeps at AwesomeMerchandise printed them for us along with special notebooks and pin badges so you could spot us easily spot us!
Do it for the ‘gram
A new addition to #TheBloggersMarket no.3 this time around was the concept of an ‘Instagram Room’ (we’re so millenial.) The space could be used to snap your purchases, treats from the kitchen or even just some of the many beautiful props laid out in the room by our high street faves Oliver Bonas and pretty stems by Dutch flower delivery guys Bloomon.
The light in there was on-it so made for the perfect flatlays but if the choice of delightful props got your head in a spin, both the OB girls and our own Carrie were on-hand to give tips. Unfortunately I missed Carrie’s dedicated Insta-talk (market life innit) but I sure could have learned a few things from her!
We like to celebrate young creative talent at #TheBloggersMarket so when Maelle asked us if she could come over from Paris just to draw our guests at the event, armed with post card drawings of each of us girls, we were more than delighted to say yes!
Cirque de Papier, her own illustration endeavour, features beautiful girls in beautiful clothes as well as food, flowers and hair. Take a look at her gorgeous blog for free printables and to see what she’s up to in gay Paris!
Where would we be without a pick-me-up after a hard days’ shopping eh? Don’t fret, we had it covered.
For our morning guests, pots of tasty and natural Cuckoo bircher were stocked in the kitchen to energise them for the day. To hydrate you all we offered packs of Vita Coco coconut water (which went with our palm theme rather nicely!)
Baskets of Propercorn were raided for mid-morning savoury needs and the icing on the cake (literally) were the beautiful displays of biscuits and cakes from the mega-talented Nicole of Afternoon Crumbs. Thank you Nicole for all your hard work creating these delectable delights! What a spread. Big thanks to Talking Tables too for those beautiful decorations and tablewear that pit the theme perfectly!
