Last weekend my little girl gang and I ‘sixties-fied’ Carries already gorgeous midcentury flat into a house fit for a mad men star for a photo sesh to showcase our Boden style. Cue silly selfies with retro phones and lots of posing with props, a Friends moment on the sofa (obvs) and the opportunity to pawn over gorgeous vintage photo coffee table tomes whilst chomping on our lunch and catching up.
So what did we wear? This get together was all about the BodenICONS pieces, a sparkly new premium range of cool, sixties-and-seventies, British-celebrities-inspired separates designed to ignite the icon in you. We fawned over the collection at Bodens’ press day, so we were all excited to be able to actually try the pieces out.
Carrie and Dunya went for some pretty stand-out coats. (Seriously that Parka is incredible) whilst Kristabel and Liv opted for some seventies style denim skirts. Come over to the Boden Blog and take a closer look! So who was I channelling in my velvet flares? Enter Betty Catroux, Yves Saint Laurent’s main gal and iconic model. She may have been French-American, tall, willowy and erm, very blonde but I couldn’t help but feel at least 20% Betty as I crudely interpreted her lounging-on-the-sofa look in my flares.
With my heart set on the trews, it was all about adding prints and Boden had a fair few tops that fit the bill. Go for this bold print top or cut the mustard with my boxy T. It’s very Betty to go barefoot (think Marrakesh, ladies) but once we stepped outside it was all about the lace up heels, a sensible coat and a skinny scarf (that one’s definitely a little investment for this season.) You digging the ICONS collection?
