Bienvenue en Aix-en-Provence!
Welcome to the sunny south of France where I holidayed last month with the lovely Céline of French blog Bon Baisers D’ailleurs. First stop out of Marseille airport was the typically Provençale Aix-en-Provence with its pretty shutters, yellow washed stone streets and story-tale like market in the square.
I was really excited to visit it, imagining beautiful young French ‘Mamans’ gliding through the lanes clutching paniers of fresh fruit and flowers. I’m sure I must have missed them all, but I kept the dream alive by treating myself to a a box of prune flavoured Calissons – a local sweet delicacy made from almonds. Très bon!
Céline showed me the main old streets of which there are only a couple, popped into a local jewellers and then tried the incredible flower shaped ice cream in Amorino. (Pistachio, black cherry and coconut all the way!) We finished the morning exploring a couple of the residential streets where, with the buzzing sound of the cigales, warm breeze and silent streets, I couldn’t help wishing I could retire to my little maison there. Dreamy!
