Bratislava, Slovakia, Exploring Day 2!
Back to Slovakia we go and my second day exploring was even better than the first, as my Bratislava buddy Celine and I decided to visit the famous old castle (or Hrad) which once formed the head of the old walled city on the top of the hill. The old palace, which now houses the Slovak National Museum, commenced it’s life thousands of years ago but is still being renovated following a fire in 1811. At night the castle becomes a stunning beacon from the effect of hundreds of lights shining up the newly painted, bright white walls.
After climbing a set of sweet steps between houses, we were treated to a spectacular view of both the river Danube and Slovakian countryside sprawling away to one side, and the old capital city with its stunning terracotta roofs spiked with the odd turquoise spire to the other.

On our way back down through the old city, we stopped for a few twirls in the cobbled square in front of the theatre and I took a peek at the market stalls where I bought a postcard for my grandparents. I’m missing the weather already so it’s very lucky that tomorrow I’m off to Barcelona. Lots more on that later!
