“I thought I’d channel the Victorian era with the scruffiness of Dodger in Oliver Twist, except with posh trousers to match the pigeon’s necks…”

This is what I proclaimed to the lovely Kristabel as we wondered through Bloomsbury square in central London to snap my latest piece for the Take 10 challenge! Of course, she laughed her head off and proceeded to shout “You’ve got to pick a pocket or twooooo!” from 100 meters away across the road as she snapped me in my attempted mash-up of an outfit.

Whilst the cape, one of the pieces from Next’s 30th anniversary capsule collection, is great and could be incredibly wearable on someone else, I struggled with it a bit! Naturally, I wanted to inject a pop of colour, but maybe my opulent trousers and DIY patent trimmed crop knit would work better in some Christmas themed post instead! (Well it IS Autumn..)

I’ll let you be the judge of it! Despite my potentially failed attempt at styling it (hey, we all question our choices sometimes!) it is a pretty diverse piece, from belting it like I did in the first picture, to leaving it open or throwing one side over your shoulder to create a wrap – It’s definitely a great piece to shroud any outfits that shouldn’t be seen or, as I tried to do, bring down all the colours by adding something neutral. Ah well, what ever happens, as long as you still have fun swinging from lamposts and singing songs to musicals in your head then it’s fine in my eyes! hehe

SO here’s what the other girls wore! I think we all look particularly smart and grown up on this challenge don’t you?! My personal fave has to be Fritha and Olivia’s floral pencil dress – Killer with a bright clutch and matching belt! Which is your favourite look?
