With Jive Dancing!

I’m sure you will have heard of Vogue Fashion’s Night Out, but maybe you have preconceived ideas about it. That it’s a glorified pre-fashion week streetstyleposefest where everyone’s just there for the schmoozing and free drinks perhaps? This was the vibe that i’d picked up over the past two years, and one that was assumed by friends I’d spoken to that day who had never been.

But this year it was different and I loved it! It took a while for me to get into the swing of it. Literally: At first I waited for friends to enjoy themselves at the exclusive Mulberry party while I hung around like a Superloser outside, amusing myself photographing things with my new 50mm lens (!) But once I wondered up Bond Street, I found myself in another world, one of smiles and jive dancing outside Hermes!

My gosh, fashion people CAN smile! Blimey. After the impressive dance show, we were treated to a brass band and cabaret parade (BUMS!), followed by a stream of fashion personalities. (Henry Holland’s pink and purple bum!) I eventually found myself in colourful Coach catching up with the press girl from River Island, sipping something Elderflowery and catching the smiles of many a Blogger.

Ok so there was a tiny bit of schmoozing and drinks but the kind I definitely like!

On my way home I popped into Oasis, where I tried not to look at all the gorgeous dresses and shirt/skirt combos, to see my friend Sophie from Crown and Glory create bespoke accessories in the window. She looked very busy with an impressive queue of eager girls, craving a spot of glitter. Well done Soph!

Did you go along to Fashion’s Night Out? What did you get up to?

  1. For the love of god why do I keep missing FNO?! I was flying out to LA the day after, so I missed both London and Los Angeles FNO – next year I’m going to actually have to clear my diary to make sure I do it in London!

Welcome, I'm Lucy! Happy reading and don't forget to smile!

Coucou! Je parle francais aussi!
