Yesterday I made a new friend!

If you’re anything like me, you’ll be a person who likes people. We’re the type that other people get embarrassed by. We just ‘have’ to ask the Guide a question or make a friendly comment to a stranger don’t we now! We love to surround ourselves by people with similar interests. For me, it’s anyone vaguely artistic who’s creativity I can relate to, but generally all they need is a big smile and something interesting to say.

Luckily, my new acquaintance, Sammy from Informed London was just my sort of person too! We were paired up by the people at Doing Something to go and have a lovely day out in London. We noted just how easy it is to make friends or, if it’s your intention, find a ‘special someone’ when you actually dooo something. I know that for some, being in a big city like London can be surprisingly lonely and despite there being so many activities that the city has to offer, it can be hard to motivate yourself to get out. I’m really pleased to be able to mention Doing Something because it promotes all the fun, shiny perks of living!

Sammy and I had great fun watching the world’s only nitrogen-frozen ice-cream barman make us a ‘Scones and Queen Tea’ icey treat. It was delicious, even the white-chocolate coated crinkly crisp was tasty. We then sauntered to London Zoo which I’ve been dying to visit for ages and just about got time to see our favourite animals. I’ve got to go back and catch the komodo dragons! So, the moral of the story is, if you’re looking for someone, make sure you’re Doing Something!

(Thank you to DS for the wonderful day out)

Sometimes I think it’d be fun to have a dating website type thing, that pairs you up with a friend for the day! Cos not everyone is always up for the same thing. That snake kinda took me by surprise haha, but I’m glad you had a good day, I will go on a day trip with you another time – to somewhere other than Citizen’s Advice haha 🙂

I am gonna have to try that ice-cream place. I’ve always wanted to experience on of Heston’s banquets! Have you seen the film ‘We built a zoo’? I watched it the other night and was blubbing all the way through – so good!

This is such a great idea! When I first moved to Leeds I was really worried about making friends – how do you even do that when you’re an adult? Also that ice cream place looks fab! xoxo

i think this is an ace idea, i know sometimes it’s hard to find like minded people to hang out with, esp in such a big place where you can end up feeling very alone. i like your criteria for being friends
