I always find myself drawn to the Graphic Design or Illustration at graduate shows. In fact I think I’d rather browse that section over fashion *gasp!* yep. This year I only saw Middlesex, the more graphics pieces at Graduate Fashion Week and my favourite – Hertfordshire. Theirs was extensive but I don’t remember a bad project among them. I sometimes wish I had studied it, or at least that my Fashion Promotion course covered the theory of graphics in more detail. Studying it (with Restistant Materials) at A-Level also didn’t provide me with any real foundations but now I’m curious and want to explore the expansive world that is Graphics. I’m drawn to students’ use of colour, spacing, font and shapes. I love how graduates reference popular culture (See Being a Dickhead’s Cool hehe) and use poppy geometric vectors that I love. Here are some faves from Graphics and Illustration at Mdx at the Old Truman Brewery in East London last month… ooh and a tad bit of Fashion Textiles thrown in 🙂

    >Such great work. Graphics is very close to my heart – at the moment I'm more drawn to (haha) traditional printing techniques, but I just wouldn't be able to resist leafing through everything you photographed!
