I thought it was about time I showed you a little bit more about how I spend my time other than going out taking pictures and editing them for Snippets of Shiny Thoughts! In reality, I spend most of my time pottering for my Fashion Promotion course which I take at Middlesex University in North London. For this project, I was asked to design a shop window display for a new contemporary mens floor of Selfridges. I chose to start looking into the Male Group which lead me to creating a fictional band called The Mannequins (ok there did used to be a real one but we’ll look past that for now!) This band would perform in the window on the opening weekend with dummy mannequins being the audience. Here’s the step-by-step process of making the window on Photoshop:

Hopefully you can see that the coloured people would be the band and the others, the mannequins. I wanted the whole window set to be very clinical, pointing to the environment a mannequin would feel comfortable in (cream coloured, plastic…) The Mannequins band therefore would stick out like a sore thumb.
Told you it would look like a sore thumb! Here’s the finished representation, with people and lighting created in 3D by my lovely, clever housemate Miguel:

>wow, lucy, you're so creative! this is such a fun and new idea, i could so imagine selfridges going for this!
ps, i got an offer from middlesex. squeee

>Lucy! This is such a stinking clever idea. I would never have a clue how to put something like this together on Photoshop. Iam so impressed. Hope you got a killer mark – you deserve it. xx
>Ooh, wow, this looks really cool! What a fun thing to study – I am mega jealous!
>that is so pretty
