Looking at these clothes make me so excited and happy! The colours, the hot models, the sea-blue hair, those snuggly big comfy jumpers and that Hippo dress..
I saw Yang Du’s collection featuring the horse jumper (above) two seasons ago and just wanted to grab the clothes off the hangers there and then and dance around freely. This season, Yang Du had a brilliant spacious walk-in structure on the balcony of Somerset House in which to showcase her poppy new collection. It was a treat to walk in and see clothes that played with scale, cartoons and that pleased the child in me among the sea of more conservative labels.
I adore the shots for the X My Heart collection taken by Photographer Patrick Lindblom above left and top. The amazing hair and cutesy pop vibe work brilliantly with high key photography. Styled by Anna Trevelyan

How could magazines say the Hippo dress is ugly and laughable – do they have no humour?! It is simply so fun, would obviously make people smile yet is balanced by a simple neckline. Worn by both Marina (and the Diamonds) and Paloma Faith, this dress is now rather iconic and I want itttt!
Illustration, wool roses and teeth?! Watch this video from Vice Magazine to see Yang talk about her work

Yang Du’s label is only just over a year old but is growing strong. With experience at Vivienne Westwood, Galliano and Giles Deacon behind her, I can trust that I will always love her collections! You can buy her horse jumpers at the adorable Super Sweet website for £260. Sadly that’s a lot of saving up so maybe I’ll just look at the pretty photos and dream instead :)

I am delighted to hear that some of you have noticed my new layout!
I must thank Gary Roberts for his creative ideas in my banner design. I had designed some pretty awesome (ok crazy) blog layout but it proved too challenging for me to launch so I have settled for a simplified version. It now features tabs to aid discovering the most interesting exhibitions to see in London at Shows and Must Sees, and my friends and faves in the blog world are found in Pretty Places. Still to come – a Portfolio section to showcase my work!
I have also just updated to the easier to say and type: www.shinythoughts.net so now you can find me easier and spread the word easier hehe.
Thanks so much for reading and helping me grow!

  1. >oh my lucy, i adore yang du! i saw her at LFW and she was kind enough to let me interview her. and film it! i keep meaning to upload that, haha.

i remember her saying that she didn't mind people laughing at her work, she just wanted them to feel something when they saw it, which i thought was really humble and wise. xx

  2. >Ah i love the designs.
